Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) er en international non-profit organisation. FSC-systemet til skovbrugscertificering blev etableret for at sikre en b\u00e6redygtig skovdrift. Til dette form\u00e5l udvikler FSC en generel international ramme standard og er i gang med at vedtage en national skov standard i de respektive lande. FSC fremmer milj\u00f8m\u00e6ssigt forsvarlig, socialt gavnlig og \u00f8konomisk rentabel forvaltning af verdens skove. Dermed sikrer FSC, at behovet for r\u00e5stoffet tr\u00e6 for den nuv\u00e6rende generation kan d\u00e6kkes p\u00e5 samme m\u00e5de som for fremtidige generationer. Et centralt m\u00e5l er her, ud over tr\u00e6udnyttelse, den globale sikring af biodiversitet samt udnyttelse af skovene som rekreative omr\u00e5der og levesteder for mennesker.
