With the PDM interface, it is possible to define an article template with which the articles are created and thus various parameters such as product group, VAT codes, account assignment, etc. can be defined in advance.

The following fields are to be filled in blue office with values from the PDM:
- Article number is assigned by blue office
- Designation in German & English
- Additional text in German & English
- Drawing number
- Index
- Status
- Material
- Number
- Length, width, height
- Weight

After release in PDM, an XML file is created for each article and parts list with the above-mentioned information and stored in a folder on the file server (this file export is created by SolidWorks and is not part of the add-in)

The blue office import interface then processes these files and the articles created are manually supplemented in blue office by defined users with additional information such as supplier, price, product group, etc.
