FSC^® - The symbol for responsible forest management. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit organization. The FSC system for the certification of forest management was founded to ensure sustainable forest use. To this end, the FSC is developing a general international umbrella standard and is in the process of adopting a national forest standard in the respective countries. The FSC promotes ecologically sound, socially beneficial and economically profitable management of the world's forests. In this way, the FSC ensures that the demand for the raw material wood can be met for today's generation as well as that of future generations. In addition to the use of wood worldwide, the central objective is to safeguard biodiversity and the use of forests as a recreational and living space for people. The organization is represented in Germany by FSC Arbeitsgruppe Deutschland e.V. and its subsidiary Gutes Holz Service GmbH.
